Or It Might Not

Either way really.

Here's What I Like

Here's how it breaks down: I list all the songs I like. If I like all the songs on an album or if I like the album as a whole, I'll just write the album title. Albums are in chronological order, and comments are in brackets.

Rage Against The Machine - Rage Against The Machine [This is their first album. All good except Fistful of Steel and Township Rebellion. The song from the end credits of The Matrix, called "Wake Up", is on here]

Rage Against The Machine - Evil Empire [Great album. Includes Bulls on Parade, perhaps their most famous song]

Rage Against The Machine - The Battle of Los Angeles [Probably their most famous album. Sleep Now In The Fire, anyone?]

Rage Against The Machine - Renegades [A complete album of covers. Kicks extreme ass]

Rage Against The Machine - Live at the Grand Olympic Auditorium [Live album (duh), includes "No Shelter" which is only found on the Godzilla soundtrack as a studio version]

Rage Against The Machine - Fuck Tha Police [Cover of the NWA(?) song. From the album "Live and Rare" which sucks overall except for this one song]

311 - Music [First 311 album. Not very famous. I really like "My Stoney Baby]

311 - Grassroots [Phenomenal 311 album. Launched them onto a major label I believe. Every song is either good or great]

311 - 311 [Self-titled album. Also called The Blue Album]

311 - Transistor [This disc is extremely well put together. It really flows, and is meant to be listened to front to back in my humble opinion. Good after doing illegal things]

311 - Soundsystem [Large in the Margin rocks on this album]

311 - Creatures (For A While) [Song from Evolver. I don't know that album very well, so I can't honestly recommend the whole thing]

311 - Beyond the Grey Sky [Somewhat depressing, but still quality. Also from Evolver]

311 - Don't Tread On Me [Latest 311 album. Tracks 1-6: gold. Tracks 7-12: filler/crappy]

Dropkick Murphys - Do or Die [Their first album. It's a classic, and after this one the lead singer left to become a firefighter and eventually start a new band, Street Dogs. More about that later]

Dropkick Murphys - The Gang's All Here [It doesn't really have any standout tracks; they're just all alright. Skip it if you're not a big fan]

Dropkick Murphys - Sing Loud, Sing Proud! [This is an excellent CD. There are a lot of covers: the BC fight song, a traditional Irish drinking song, and even a song about coal miners. Still great though]

Dropkick Murphys - Blackout [My first DKM album]

Dropkick Murphys - The Warrior's Code [This and Blackout are the best albums to start out with if you're interested in DKM, since they're the two newest]

Dropkick Murphys - Singles Collection, Vol. 2 [Almost all covers, but I really dig it. Really gives new life to old punk classics]

Street Dogs - Back To The World [Their second album. I can't recommend their first one because I haven't really listened to it. I hear it's good though.

Street Dogs - Fading American Dream [The new album. I highly recommend it to anyone that likes DKM, and even to people that just like punk in general]

Operation Ivy - Operation Ivy (Energy) [The first and only album from the founders of ska-punk. Give it a good listen before making any judgments]

Green Day - Dookie [Their third album, but their first major label one. Skyrocketed them to fame, and for good reason: this is great, accessible punk. Start here if you want to get to know Green Day]

Green Day - International Superhits [I realize that this is a compilation album. However, it's been a long time since I've listened to Green Day and these two CDs are the only ones I can remember as standing out. If you need more Green Day, they had 2 albums before Dookie, 3 between Dookie and International Superhits, and one after (American Idiot). They have a couple live CDs and a kind of singles collection, but they are only for really hardcore fans. I am burnt out on Green Day I think, but they're still a great band minus American Idiot]

The Hives - Barely Legal [The first full-length album from The Hives. It really rocks, but it's not very polished]

The Hives - Veni Vidi Vicious [This CD contain The Hives' first real hit, "Hate To Say I Told You So", along with some other great tracks]

The Hives - Tyrannosaurus Hives [This is possibly my least favorite Hives CD, but it's still good. I would recommend starting with either this or their greatest hits CD, Your New Favourite Band, if you want to get hooked on The Hives. Garage rock revivalists from Sweden? Who wouldn't want to get hooked!]

Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand [I don't care if you think I'm a wuss for liking this CD. Franz Ferdinand has some ill nasty alternative rock skillz, but their second album left me wanting more. As far as I'm concerned, this was the only Franz Ferdinand album ever]

The Drunken Pirates - Malpractice at the Mohelim [Eric Pennington's band rocks! They seriously have some good songs on here, even if the recording quality isn't exactly top notch. Great if you want to "sit around the campfire drinking lots of rum" (Hey!)]

MC Lars - The Graduate [Laptop rock is in in a big way! MC Lars has sharp lyrics and groovy beats to make the girls go krazy]

Andrew W.K. - I Get Wet [This guy really likes to party. Seriously. Here are some of the songs from this album: It's Time To Party, Party Hard, Party Til You Puke, and Fun Night. This is what I would call "party rock": no anger or hate or ex-girlfriends, just fun 24/7. It is super good]

Andrew W.K. - The Wolf [Not as much emphasis on partying, but still distinctively Andrew W.K. Put this album on and rock out]

Andrew W.K. - We Want Fun [Song made for the first Jackass movie]

Darkbuster - 22 Songs You'll Never Want To Hear Again [This title is deceiving, since many of the songs barely qualify as songs. There are some really shitty tracks on here, but some are keepers. Same deal with their other album, A Weakness For Spirits. Put together, they would make one great album instead of two alright ones]

Blink-182 - The Mark, Tom, and Travis Show [Yes, I realize that many people consider Blink-182 to be a shitty, shitty band. However, they are wrong. The songs on this live "best of" album are great. The comedy tracks, however, I could do without]

Blink-182 - Anthem, Boring, First Date, Give Me One Good Reason, Rock Show [Songs from older Blink-182 albums. Their newest album was wicked emo]

Gorillaz -Gorillaz [First Gorillaz album. Really...different. Good if you're in a Gorillaz kind of mood]

Quarashi - Jinx [This is a great CD! Quarashi was a rap group from Iceland, their most famous song being "Stick 'Em Up". Great if you like rap-metal bands like RATM (but not as heavy) but don't want all the "gangsta" bullshit]

The Strokes - Is This It [Good album. Some of their songs are SO FUCKING BORING, but some of them are right on. Mix this with the good songs from their second album, Room On Fire, and you get one great album]

Authority Zero - Andiamo [Good ska and punk (NOT ska-punk) album. I'm on a Mexican radio!]

Authority Zero - One More Minute [Song from the other Authority Zero album]
